INTRODUCING THE IANOS DYTIS

Following the resounding success of the Ianos Mihanikos, a timepiece celebrated for its rugged minimalism, utilitarian elegance and deep connection to spongediving history, we proudly introduce the Ianos Dytis — the final chapter in our diver watch trilogy.

The Dytis encompasses all the lessons learned from the stories told through the Avyssos and the Mihanikos and presents to the world our unique vision of the modern diver while remaining true to our primary objective of honouring Greek history and heritage.

As such, the Ianos Dytis follows its predecessors’ legacy and maintains the unmistakable Ianos design DNA combining elements from both the Avyssos and the Mihanikos while creating its own identity, owing to the meticulous re-design of its every aspect to further evolve our diver watch design into the perfect diving companion.

EVOLUTION OF A GREAT DESIGN

The Dytis is characterised by a re-designed evolution of the beloved Mihanikos case. As a direct response to feedback from our supporters, the Dytis is our smallest watch yet, featuring a compact, yet highly functional case, a sweet spot for wrists of all sizes, while its curved lugs follow the contours of the wrist further decreasing its overall footprint.

At 41mm in diameter and 49mm lug-to-lug, the matte case is perfectly balanced, offering a strong and noticeable wrist presence without feeling oversized, while its titanium construction will make you forget you are wearing it.

The bezel, also in titanium, remains an integral part of the sterile look of the watch bringing the focus in the bold dials, and has been tweaked slightly for better grip further enhancing the watch’s usability.

Now with fixed lugs that have been specifically redesigned to further enhance its structural integrity and easy strap changes, the Dytis has been engineered with utility and wearability in mind, made to accompany you in any situation.

BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL DIAL

As all Ianos watches, the Dytis is more than just a capable, function tool. We wanted the Dytis to instantly reflect our our journey into Greek diving tradition with one look, while also being contemporary and modern in design.

For this reason, we chose to go with bold colours shapes and elements that represent Greece’s past and present as well as personal diving memories.

The Dytis will be offered in two dial colours, one in blue and one in white, a first for Ianos.

The blue dial is the exact colour of the Greek flag, while the crisp white indexes enhance readability and contrast beautifully against the rich blue background.

The white dial is inspired by the world-famous whitewashed buildings of the Greek islands, offering a fresh, bold aesthetic that is sure to stand out.

The 12-hour index marker has been replaced by 4 horizontal lines, representing the lines of the Greek flag, while the kampanelopetra indexes have been modeled after the hand-carved diving stone used for the shooting of our Avyssos video in Symi, a reminder that our history lives through us still.

Finally, the small seconds mechanism is now a double edged “evil eye”, a timeless Greek symbol of protection used for millennia on ships, houses and even people to ward off evil; a representation of our unbroken bond with the customs of our ancestors that has survived since antiquity.

FORM AND FUNCTION

The Dytis is meant to cover any needs you may have from a diver watch. For this reason, we wanted to make it as light and as strong as possible, while also keeping its rugged yet refined looks.

The grade 2 titanium we used for the case, bezel, crown and even the strap buckle, is a material renowned for its strength, corrosion resistance, and lightweight properties.

At 45% lighter than stainless steel, the Dytis’ weight disappears on your wrist and will remain incredibly comfortable for all-day wear while maintaining exceptional durability.

In addition, due to its high resistance to seawater corrosion, titanium is the perfect material for a dive watch exposed to saltwater, humidity, and extreme environments.

Following the footsteps of the Mihanikos, the shot-blasted titanium finish enhances the watch’s utilitarian character, creating a matte, non-reflective surface that reduces glare.

Finally, the heavy-duty single pass rubber strap, customized with a sponge texture on the inside, is ideal for the perfect fit and comfort in and out of the water.

CAPABLE COMPANION

We are firm believers that a true dive watch must perform flawlessly under pressure, and the Dytis was designed with that in mind. Delivering 300 meters (30 ATM) of water resistance, in a lightweight grade 2 titanium body, the Dytis is a perfect dive companion.

With a screw-down titanium crown and a sapphire crystal, the Dytis is engineered to withstand extreme underwater conditions, and whether you're diving, swimming, sailing, or just lounging around the pool, the Dytis offers total peace of mind, ensuring you never have to worry about water damage.

At the heart of the Dytis beats the Sellita SW360-1, a highly reliable Swiss automatic movement, offering robust performance and precision while the traditional “evil eye” small seconds design acts as a double index allowing you to confirm the watch’s condition at a glance.

Finally, the raised 3d luminous indexes, provide ample light in dark conditions, whether you are diving in the deep Aegean waters or taking a night swim on a Greek island.

SIGNATURE STRAP CHANNEL

A defining feature of Ianos dive watches embraced by all our supporters, the strap channel, a hallmark of Ianos’ engineering ingenuity, could not be missing from our new watch.

By integrating the strap into the case, the watch’s design allows for a tighter, more ergonomic fit, preventing the watch from shifting uncomfortably on the wrist, while the height of the watch remains unchanged from what it would have been with a single pass strap sitting under the case.

In contrast to the Avyssos and the Mihanikos, the Dytis is our first diver with a fixed bar design.

While designing the Dytis we took into account the fact that most of our clients used the watches as fixed bar watches anyway, so we embraced this further and incorporated a sleek internal incline on the bars which allow the straps to glide seamlessly through the strap channel minimizing wrist-to-strap spacing, creating a snug, streamlined fit that speaks to both form and function, making the Dytis our most comfortable watch yet.
