INTRODUCING THE IANOS AMFIVIOS

The Ianos Amfivios is the civilian sibling of the Ianos OYK, the first Greek-designed watch ever commissioned for a military unit. Created exclusively for the active members of the Underwater Demolition Command with the kind sponsporship of the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation and presented by the Prime Minister of Greece in the summer of 2025, the OYK watch was never intended for sale. What we did not anticipate was the strength and persistence of the demand that followed from watch enthusiasts, from the wider Greek community, and from many who saw, in the OYK, a story they wanted to wear themselves.

We had not planned a fourth diver as our trilogy ended with the Dytis. However, after consulting directly with our closest supporters, we understood that a civilian release of the OYK was a watch worth sharing with our supporters. The result is the Ianos Amfivios.

Faithful to the OYK in case, construction, bezel and operational character, the Amfivios sheds only what is exclusive to those who earned it: the OYK insignia and the deep operational blue of the dial. What remains is a tool watch built without compromise, designed from the ground up for the OYK, and now available to a wider audience for the first time.

A DIAL DEFINED BY RESTRAINT

The Amfivios deliberately carries no military insignia, letting the watch speak for itself.

We chose matte black, a first for the Ianos diver line, for its purity, classic look and to maximise the contrast against the 3D luminous markers.

The dial layout is taken directly from the OYK, which itself is inspired by our legendary Mihanikos. The date sits at 12 o’clock, framed by the luminous twelve-marker — an unusual configuration that prioritises legibility above convention and is unique to Ianos divers. The small seconds sub-dial remains, clean and unembellished, allowing the wearer to confirm at a glance that the watch is running.

The 3D hour markers and hands are covered in Super-LumiNova, ensuring readability in pitch-dark conditions, whether at depth or in any low-light environment.

FORM AND FUNCTION

The Amfivios was made to withstand any test. The use of grade 2 titanium throughout the case, bezel, crown and buckle, renowned for its strength, corrosion resistance and lightweight properties, ensures robustness.

At 45% lighter than stainless steel, the Amfivios disappears on the wrist. At the same time, its high resistance to seawater corrosion makes it the ideal material for a watch built to live in salt water, humidity and operational extremes.

Following the rest of our diver line, the matte titanium finish enhances the utilitarian character of the watch, producing a dark, non-reflective surface that reduces glare in bright sun and in low light alike. Every external component, down to the bezel insert, is finished in the same material with the same treatment — a consistency that speaks to a watch designed as a single tool, not assembled from competing parts.

SIGNATURE STRAP CHANNEL

The strap channel, a hallmark of Ianos engineering embraced by every supporter of our diver line, could not be missing from the Amfivios. By integrating the strap directly into the case, the design eliminates the gap between watch and wrist, producing a fit that is both more stable and more ergonomically refined than any conventional lug. The height of the watch remains unchanged from what it would be on a standard single-pass strap, but the wearing experience is transformed.

Following the Dytis and the OYK, the Amfivios uses a fixed-bar design with a sleek internal incline that allows the strap to glide seamlessly through the channel. The result is the snug, streamlined fit that has become the defining wearing experience of an Ianos diver and, in our view, the single most important advance in dive watch comfort we have introduced.
